Online Parenting Programs recently launched a set of two Conflict Management programs targeting parents coping with the challenges of separation or divorce. One is an 8-hour and the other a 12-hour online course that can be taken in the comfort of ones own home over a period of days to get the most value from the content. Both are court-approved in many municipalities throughout the United States.
We all get angry when we believe we are being wronged, misunderstood or unjustly accused. Its a natural reaction to circumstances that put us on the defensive. But when we cannot identify or manage our anger, it can take over our lives and affect the well-being of those close to us, notes Lori LaVigne, Education Director of OnlineParentingPrograms.com. When our anger is focused on our relationship partners or a divorcing spouse, it can reach dangerous levels especially when there are children involved.
It is extremely important to note that not all conflicts have a resolution, nor are you technically able to manage anger. By locating the source of issues, becoming familiar with, and utilizing the tools necessary to manage conflict, parents will find you are able to work through strong emotions, such as anger, stress, or anxiety that are caused both internally and externally. This program will guide parents to better understand their own feelings about conflict. This means recognizing triggers — words or actions that immediately cause an angry or other heightened emotional response. A trigger may be a facial expression, a tone of voice, a finger being pointed, a stereotype, or a certain phrase. Once parents know their triggers, they are able to improve control over their reactions. Parents need to understand they may still get their needs met, but without the struggle, turmoil and negative consequences.
The content of the new classes for parents includes insights, advice, strategies, questions, videos, quizzes and more, all designed to help parents create better alternatives in their lives. The courses are also approved for court-mandated Conflict Management programs in many counties throughout the United States.
